About This Spot

Stepping into Bavarian Inn feels like being welcomed into a warm, time-honored gathering place where familiar comforts meet a touch of old-world charm. Nestled on Main Street in Lena, this German restaurant unfolds at a gentle pace—inviting you to settle in, breathe deeply, and share space with laughter and meaningful conversation. The atmosphere hums quietly with genuine hospitality, where attentive service wraps around you as naturally as the rich scents from the kitchen.

Here, the menu is more than a list; it’s an invitation to explore traditional German flavors thoughtfully prepared and served with a kind of earnest craftsmanship. Whether you're savoring the delightfully crisp schnitzel or the tender richness of a perfectly cooked ribeye, each bite connects you to recipes that have clearly been refined through many years of care. The generous salad bar and house-made breads add a comforting layer to the meal, making it feel like a complete and satisfying experience rather than just a dinner out.

The convivial spirit extends beyond the plate—there’s a well-stocked bar where locals and visitors alike raise glasses, sometimes to the rhythm of ordering a full liter of beer, emphasizing the communal, celebratory feel of the space. While the cash-only policy encourages a simple, down-to-earth encounter, what truly shines is the seamless rhythm of the evening: heartfelt service, thoughtful flavors, and a relaxed setting that invites you back again and again.

For those discovering Bavarian Inn for the first time—or returning like so many do—the experience is quietly memorable. It’s a place where culinary tradition and warm human moments come together, tucked away in the charming backdrop of Lena, making it a special spot to gather, savor, and connect.

We were seated immediately, and the service was outstanding. The food was very delicious. It is a cash only restaurant which was fine with us. If you get a chance, you need to go and try them out. We will be going.

I live up in the UP but a group of us try to get here a couple times a year. The food is amazing, everything is cooked to perfection and seasoned well. It is a bit expensive but worth every penny. The staff is friendly and courteous, serving up classic German fare. If you're looking to just wet your whistle, they have a well stocked bar and you can even order a LITER of beer! They also do hot apple cinnamon drinks that are perfect dinner drinks. The salad bar which comes with most if not all dinners has a wide range to suit whatever your fancy is in a salad. The wait time can be a little long at times, but bring a friend and socialize!

We have been here many times but last night compelled me to post a review. Our drinks and meals were truly delicious. They offer a robust menu but I can't see myself ever ordering something other than a traditional German dish because they are so good. My favorite is the jaeger schnitzel with spaetzle as the side. Don't pass on the included hot bread or the salad bar. It's cash only but there is an ATM onsite if you need it. Enjoy!

I just wish they had an option to accept credit card. Other than that, loved the experience and first time eating Schnitzel (pictured her), very good flavor and crunch. Fresh tasting salad bar at no extra charge was my favorite aspect of dining here.

We been here many times before having to move to Appleton for a bit. Finally made our way back last night and brought friends. It was as great experience as it always was. Food was awesome, drinks were awesome and service was awesome as well. Our friends said they will definitely return again.

We’ve been coming here for years and never leave disappointed. The salad bar is one of the best around and Jim and his staff are friendly and helpful.

Took my dad for his birthday. We drove about 1 hr 45min and it was well worth it. I can't say enough about this place in all aspects. The staff was awesome and welcoming. The salad bar and the warm rolls could fill you up if you wanted to. The portions were very generous. We enjoyed the Veal trio, seafood pasta bowl and the rouladen. Can't wait to find a reason to go back!
